Inlays & Onlays What to Expect

Dr. Banks will begin the inlay or onlay treatment procedure by removing the decayed area. The diseased tissue will be gently removed from the tooth. The tooth is then thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the inlay or onlay.

The inlay or onlay will be custom designed and fabricated to securely fit the tooth. Dental inlay or onlays can be color matched to the natural smile for a seamless appearance. Once fabricated, the restoration will be permanently bonded to the too with a special adhesive.

  • Inlay- Custom fabricated from high-quality professional grade resin, and inlay fits inside the cusp of a tooth. The inlay permanently adheres to a cleaned tooth for a lasting dental restoration.
  • Onlay- A dental onlay is made from professional grade ceramic resin. An onlay can repair larger areas of decay that are found on the surface of the tooth. An onlay is similar to a partial dental crown.
